iOS 17 was officially announced by Apple at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2023, which took place in the early hours of Tuesday, June 6, 2023. The update brings a number of new features to the iPhone's operating system.

One of the notable additions in iOS 17 is personalized contact posters. This new feature makes the caller's display more visually appealing than ever before.

Apple has introduced the Live Voicemail feature, allowing users to transcribe voicemail messages in real-time while they are speaking.

Users can now record messages to be viewed by the recipient later if they miss a FaceTime call.

AirDrop has been updated to include contact information sharing. Apple calls it NameDrop, and this feature enables the sharing of email addresses and phone numbers, including contact posters, simply by bringing two iPhones close together.

Photos can now be shared in a similar manner. If a file is large, it is now possible to continue the download while being out of range.

iOS 17 also includes keyboard updates, ranging from improvements to autocorrect to a new AI model for Dictation.

Apple has embedded new applications in iOS 17. First is Journal, which automatically suggests moments that users may want to commemorate in their journal entries. Each entry can include photos and activities, and users can schedule reminders to start writing. Apple promises end-to-end encryption for security.

The second application is StandBy, which transforms the iPhone's screen to display date and time information. It can also show information from Live Activities, Widgets, smart stacks, and automatically switch to landscape mode when the iPhone is being charged.
