Instagram Notes' New Features for Music Lovers and Language Explorers

Since the beginning of 2023, Instagram users have been able to share simple status posts containing text and emojis with a maximum of 60 characters using a feature called Instagram Notes.

Now, users can also share their favorite music titles through Instagram Notes. This was announced directly by Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta (Instagram's parent company).

"You can now add a 30-second snippet of your favorite song to Instagram Notes," wrote Zuckerberg on the Meta broadcast channel on Instagram.

Music in Instagram Notes works the same way as when users add music to Instagram Stories, Feed, or Reels. Users simply need to go to the Instagram Direct Message, then click on the "+" icon to create an Instagram Notes post.

Next, users can choose music from Instagram's music library. Users can also add text captions and emojis.

Once uploaded, Instagram Notes will display the song title, artist's name, and user's caption at the top of the Direct Message. Similar to Instagram Stories, posts in Instagram Notes only last for 24 hours and then disappear.

In addition to adding music, users will also be able to view translations of Instagram Notes posts in foreign languages. When clicking on a foreign language Instagram Notes post from another user, users will see the "see translation" option.

Clicking on that option will translate the post into the selected language set on Instagram. The see translation feature works similarly to the "translate" feature in Instagram Stories, Feed, and Reels.

These two new features in Instagram Notes are being rolled out to users starting today. As of Wednesday (June 14, 2023), according to Metis Media, the music sharing and translation viewing features in Instagram Notes cannot be tested on the Instagram app version 287.0.0.25.77 for Android phones.

Typically, new features are gradually made available in the app over time.
