Instagram's New Broadcast Channel: Connect and Engage with Your Followers in a Whole New Way

Instagram recently introduced the Broadcast Channel, a one-way messaging feature similar to Telegram. Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, announced through his own channel that this feature will be rolled out globally in the near future.

The broadcast channel feature allows users to send messages to their followers, who can react to the messages and participate in polls. However, they cannot respond directly. Zuck himself has been using his channel to share announcements and updates about Meta's products.

Along with text updates, creators can post pictures, videos, and audio clips. They can also invite others to join their channel as collaborators.

Zuckerberg previously had a public conversation with Adam Mosseri, the head of Instagram, on his channel, as reported by metis media from Engadget.

Meta introduced this feature to WhatsApp for the first time last week. Currently, only a few organizations have access, but WhatsApp will offer this feature more widely in the coming months. Meta plans to bring the Broadcast Channel to Facebook and Messenger as well.

Meanwhile, Meta is developing a decentralized text-based social network to compete with Twitter. Reports indicate that although it will be an independent service connected to a network protocol that supports Mastodon, we will be able to log in with our Instagram accounts and fill out our profiles.
