iPhone 15 and Apple Vision Pro Integration

One of the standout features of Apple products is their strong and interconnected ecosystem. The same goes for the Apple Vision Pro headset, which will be seamlessly integrated with the upcoming iPhone 15.

Renowned analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed Apple's plan to integrate the iPhone with the Vision Pro ecosystem, starting with the iPhone 15 series set to be released this year. One aspect involves enhancing the iPhone's hardware specifications.

"The ecosystem is a key factor for the success of Vision Pro, including hardware integration and the crucial hardware specifications of Wi-Fi and UWB," Kuo stated in a tweet, as quoted by 9to5Mac on Tuesday (June 20, 2023).

The first step in this plan is to upgrade the Ultra Wideband (UWB) chip in the iPhone 15. According to Kuo, the iPhone 15 is likely to utilize a new and more efficient version of the UWB chip.

"The iPhone 15 is expected to see an improvement in UWB specifications, with a more advanced 7nm processing technology replacing the current 16nm, allowing for enhanced performance or reduced power consumption for close-range interactions," explained Kuo.

Apple already has its own UWB chip called the U1, which made its debut in the iPhone 11 and has been utilized in all subsequent iPhone generations.

The U1 chip is also installed in devices like the AirTag tracker, Apple Watch Series 6 and newer models, HomePod mini, second-generation HomePod, and the latest AirPods Pro charging case.

Apple employs the U1 chip to support various features such as Find My, Handoff, Precision Finding, AirDrop, and many more. Kuo believes that the new version of the U1 chip will enhance the performance of these features and play a vital role in integrating Vision Pro with other Apple products.

Kuo also predicts that the iPhone 16 will be the first iPhone to support Wi-Fi 7 technology. This upgrade is also designed to provide a better overall experience within Apple's product ecosystem.
